Curriculum

Knox Nursery School Implements a S.T.E.A.M. approach in conjunction with The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, which is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. The philosophy of The Creative Curriculum® is that young children learn best by doing. The Creative Curriculum® is built on theories of development in young children, that all children learn through active exploration of their environment and therefore the environment plays a critical role in learning. Studies on a particular topic are explored for over a month, which allows the children to fully immerse themselves in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics; and partially design their own learning paths, with teacher facilitation.

Health and Nutrition

Knox believes in a ‘whole-child’ approach, which includes their healthy physical development. Our school chef ; freshly prepares lunch for the children, which follow the USDA guidelines for nutrition ages 2-5. Knox also serves breakfast and three snacks over the course of the day. Our snacks contain no more than 10g of sugar, and no more than 150mg of sodium. Children engage in outdoor play twice per day  and participate in Kids Fitness, as an extracurricular activity. Children learn the value and health benefits of food, by growing fruits and vegetables in our garden. Children can observe plant life and enjoy the fruits of God’s creations.

Spiritual Growth

Knox Nursery School is located on our Presbyterian Church Campus. We offer your child a loving and nurturing experience in a stimulating and safe non-denominational Christian environment; meaning, all are welcome. Our Christian education curriculum includes daily classroom time, devoted to explorations of the bible though story, video and song. Each newly enrolled child will receive a copy of our storybook, The Beginners Bible©. Every Wednesday our children participate in Chapel service; led by our Youth pastor and chapel pianist, where the bible story of the week is further explored. Children learn and sing seasonal ecumenical songs and practice the Lord’s prayer. Children are taught the concepts, morals and principals of the gospel, as well as developing a sense of understanding about the living God.
